Borgo Pass -
Slightly Damaged | |
Country: USA Genre: Alternative/Indie Rock, Stoner/Sludge Metal
Slightly Damaged rocks. Right from the start, "I've Been Down" sets the tone; Brand New Sin and Corrosion Of Conformity-like kick-ass rock with balls, attitude, and emotion.
The New York rock scene (Borgo Pass, Rim Jaw, Evileye, etc.) is rising. Shades of Mother Love Bone pop up in "Shame," a ballad given some bite due to James Tamarazzo's husky vocals. "Camarocrashhelmet" combines riffs with balladry. "Razorline" delves into psychedelia with power. Again, I'm surprisingly reminded of Mother Love Bone. "Steelbloodacidgod" sees Borgo Pass going back to kick-ass energetic rock, like "I've Been Down."
So you get two upbeat songs to move your body to and three sincere, deep songs to move your soul. Great debut EP.

- These guys are bad-ass! Heard them for the first time four years ago and liked them back then. I recently heard their new CD, Slightly Damaged, and it rocks big-time.
