Hellveto - Neoheresy

L.O.N. formed his solo project Hellveto in 1995, but it's only been the past six years or so that he's become really prolific. It's a wise choice because he has greatly improved as a musician and songwriter and it's really starting to show on Neoheresy. Hellveto have twenty three releases to their name but Neoheresy is by far the best. The follow up to last year's 966 shows L.O.N. has taken his time and created an excellent sounding project with top nothc songwriting.

Neoheresy features six songs, and all of them are great. Once "Taran" starts off the album, the band that I am thinking about is Tiamat, especially from their best era- Clouds and Wildhoney. "Herezja" follows in the same manner and it's even better than "Taran" thanks to superior songwriting. "Gdy Umiera Swit" is a little more extreme and even "Mil Czace Sumienie"- the fastest song on here, still doesn't see L.O.N. using his extreme vocals. The song eventually gets quiet and doomy, but the speed of Hellveto is more like the previous work. "Sredniowieczna Egzikucja" also reveals Hellveto's new found dynamics as the fast paced beginning gives way to a song oriented and melodic sound.

I used to not get excited about a new Hellveto release, especially because there are so many of them, but after listening to Neoheresy I am aware of Hellveto's potential greatness. Hopefully this doesn't get lost by those who are like me, and didn't have high expectations.
