This six-song debut EP from Canada's Boys Night Out serves as an introduction to American audiences who will hear their first full-length via Ferret Music later this year.
"Where We Breathe" starts things off with a surprisingly melodic edge and will remind people of Thursday's softer side. From there, tracks like "The Only Honest Love Song" and "This Broken Killswitch" are more aggressive, especially in the vocal department, making Boys Night Out tread similar terrain as their neighbors in Grade. "Victor Versus the Victim" returns to the emo style with some backing screams. It's actually very catchy. "Sketch Artist Composite" starts quiet and dark, but quickly jets off into a punk rock direction. "A Torrid Love Affair" closes Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses and I can't help but feel the combination of super melodic clean vocals and intense screaming here does not mesh well.
